About Kathleen
As an educator, I found my true passion once I began working with students with learning differences. I’ve spent my 32-year career teaching primarily low SES public school students with learning disabilities, 14 of them working with students who speak other languages. My specialization is students with dyslexia and dysgraphia. I retired from public school in 2021 and now do private Dyslexia Therapy.
For seven years as the only Dyslexia Specialist in my central Texas public school district with 23,000 students, I was blessed to have been provided the opportunity to train and support campus Dyslexia Teachers in the areas of instruction, administration of standardized achievement assessments and report writing. I provided campus reading intervention trainings and parent trainings on all issues related to dyslexia and dysgraphia. I spent the last six years of my public-school career as a campus Section 504 Coordinator at two elementary campuses. I am very experienced in helping parents, teachers and administrators understand and follow the law regarding services for students with disabilities.
